BIG THANK YOU
to Jo and her husband Wynn who completed the 12 kilometre Dirty Dozen mud run and extreme obstacle course in Usk, in June 2016 in order to raise money for SHADE. They have raised nearly £350 for SHADE and we send a big thank you to them both for all there hard work and especially to Jo for overcoming a fear of heights to complete a number of the obstacles.

September 2015 Day Trip to Cyfarthfa Castle (Merthyr)
We had a walk around the grounds, wander through the museum and hot drinks and cake in the tea room. Then some of us enjoyed a bench in the sunshine while others went for a miniature train ride. Seems that a good day was had by all those that came.

On Saturday 15th November 2014, the Top Club in Risca had a war memorial event. Starting at 6.30pm onwards entertainment included a duo called Passypops singing some old time songs.

Ruby organised a raffle on the night with proceeds going to SHADE. We are very pleased to say that we raised £205.

Our very grateful thanks go to Ruby, who organised it and who also worked very hard on the night.

Craft Session With Jane Dorsett

Picture
We had a group craft session on 2 February 2012. Jane showed us how to make gift bags using recycled newspapers and templates.

Our sessions with Jane are always good fun and we are grateful to her for coming along to share with us. We look forward to seeing her again soon.

Collection for SHADE

Picture
We are very grateful to one of our members, Phil Leader. Phil is an after-dinner speaker, something he does on a purely voluntary basis. After a recent booking at Crumlin Cricket Club he asked to say a little about SHADE, and had a collection for us as well.

Thank you Phil, it is very much appreciated.

Totem Poles

Picture
In September 2011 we had a series of six art therapy classes, teaching us how to make a totem pole. The poles are made using recycled materials, papier mache, and anything else you would like to add really. All of our members who attended the classes said that they enjoyed the experience very much, and we are very grateful to Nathan Sheen for his time and his expertise (not to mention his patience!). We hope very much to be able to ask him to return again to do some more art therapy with us in the future.

Craft Session with Jane Dorsett

Picture
We had an excellent turnout for our craft session, held during the Thursday group meeting on 4 August 2011.

Everyone had an enjoyable hour making miniature books using the craft supplies provided by Jane. We are very grateful to Jane for coming along and demonstrating such creative craftwork, and  we look forward to her returning on a future occasion.
