What Is SHADE?

SHADE is a self-help group for men and women who suffer from depression and anxiety.  The group provides a safe, supportive and respectful place to meet and talk with others who have depression.  It was set up in 1999 by a member who suffers with depression. The group meets twice-weekly in Dan-y-Graig Church Hall in Risca and meets on Tuesday evenings from 7pm - 9pm and Thursday afternoons from 1pm - 3pm.  There is no charge to join, just come along.

SHADE meets for an informal chat and coffee, giving everyone the opportunity to speak if they want to and say how they are feeling.  People are able to share their experiences, learning from and helping each other.  Sometimes members go out for a meal, or have a games evening; speakers are often invited to hold talks on depression or other topics, always keeping it relaxed and adding an element of fun.

SHADE is a self help group for adults with depression, panic attacks, anxiety, and related conditions. A formal diagnosis is not necessary.

We aim to be caring, non-judgemental, and listen with empathy. We support each other either in a group setting, or one-to-one, chat, invite speakers from time-to-time, go out for the occasional meal, play games, have shoulder massage sessions every coupe of months, and are open to new ideas.

Welsh

Grŵp hunangymorth i oedolion ag iselder ysbryd, pyliau o banig, pryder a chyflyrau tebyg yw SHADE.  Nid oes angen diagnosis ffurfiol. Ein nod yw bod yn ofalgar, yn anfeirniadol a gwrando gydag empathi. Byddwn yn cefnogi ein gilydd naill ai mewn grŵp, neu un-i-un, yn sgwrsio, yn gwahodd siaradwyr o bryd i'w gilydd, yn mynd am bryd o fwyd nawr ac yn y man, yn bowlio deg, yn mwynhau chwaraeon, yn ysgrifennu'n greadigol, ac rydym yn agored i syniadau newydd.
